Have you been living in Belgium for several years and do you hold an indefinite residence permit? Then you might be eligible to become a Belgian citizen. We would be happy to check your eligibility and assist you with compiling your application file and submitting your declaration of nationality. Should you receive a negative opinion from the Public Prosecutor, we will, if necessary, appeal to the Court of First Instance and, if required, to the Court of Appeal.
If you have a past criminal conviction, it is often necessary to first apply for rehabilitation. We can also assist you with that.
If you wish to employ a non-EU worker in Belgium, specific conditions and administrative obligations usually apply. We advise both companies and foreign workers on work permits and combined permits (single permits). We ensure that the application is submitted correctly and completely, follow up on the application with the Region and the Immigration Office, and, if necessary, assist you in appeal procedures against a refusal decision.
Certain family members of Belgians, EU citizens, or individuals with a right of residence in Belgium can obtain a right of residence in Belgium through family reunification.
The rules regarding family reunification are strict and complex.
We provide you with legal advice on the conditions and required documents; assist you with the family reunification application, both at the municipality and with the Belgian visa services; and in the event of an unjustified refusal, we can lodge an appeal.
If you find yourself in an exceptional situation, for example due to serious health problems, or if you cannot return to your country of origin for humanitarian reasons, you may in certain cases submit an application for humanitarian or medical regularization. We provide honest advice on the chances of success, a strong motivation and substantiation for your application, and if necessary, we challenge a refusal decision before the Council for Alien Law Litigation.
If you fear persecution by the government of your country of origin or face a real risk of serious harm, you can submit an application for international protection.
We can assist you with this by examining the reasons for your flight, preparing you for the interview at the Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons, and being present with you there. If you receive a negative decision, we will, if necessary, appeal to the Council for Alien Law Litigation, the Council of State, or the European Court of Human Rights.
Do you have a relationship and wish to formalize it by registering a legal cohabitation or getting married? It's possible that the Registrar of Civil Status may refuse your request due to a suspicion that the marriage or cohabitation is solely for the purpose of obtaining residency rights for one of you. The same can happen if you wish to acknowledge your child born in Belgium. If your relationship or the acknowledgement of your child is being questioned, we can lodge an appeal on your behalf with the court of first instance and, if necessary, with the court of appeal.
Documents drawn up abroad are not automatically legally valid in Belgium. We assist you with the recognition of foreign deeds, and if necessary, we conduct a judicial recognition procedure.
Do you have a temporary residence permit and are you experiencing issues with its renewal? We'd be happy to investigate why your card isn't being renewed and, if necessary, urge the Immigration Department. Perhaps you even qualify for a permanent residence permit? If so, we'll make sure that's taken care of as well.
Are you looking to work as a self-employed person in Belgium? In many cases, you will need a professional card. We support you with the preparation, submission, and follow-up of your application, and will defend your application should it be refused.
Do you have European nationality and would like to live and/or work in Belgium? We will work with you to check if you meet the conditions, and if so, we will gladly assist you with your registration as an EU citizen. If you have family members who wish to join you, we will also assess whether they are eligible for a residence permit and what conditions they must meet.
Do you want a family member, acquaintance, or friend to visit Belgium? They will usually need a visa. Obtaining such a visa is not straightforward. The purpose of the trip must be demonstrated, it must be shown that the applicant has sufficient financial means to cover the costs of the trip and stay, and the applicant must provide proof of their intention to return once the visa expires. Many applications are rejected because one of these conditions is not met. We assist you with preparing the application and, if necessary, appeal against a refusal decision.
Are you a guardian of unaccompanied minor foreign nationals and is submitting an application for international protection not an option? Then we would be happy to explore with you whether it is beneficial to initiate the special residence procedure for UAMs, which seeks a durable solution for the minors. The best interests of the child are always the primary consideration. We review the options during a consultation, provide advice during the application drafting process, assist the young person during the interview with the MINTEH service, and, if necessary, lodge an appeal with the Council for Alien Law Litigation.
Do you lack a nationality and are not recognized as a national by any country? We can assist you with the procedure for recognition as a stateless person if you are eligible.
Are you an international student looking to study in Belgium? We can help you obtain a student visa and answer all your questions regarding your stay during and after your studies. If necessary, we can challenge a refusal decision before the Council for Alien Law Litigation.
Do you wish to marry or make a declaration of nationality, but you don't have a birth certificate and can prove that you've done everything possible to obtain it, but it's genuinely impossible? Then we might be able to help you by taking a sworn statement or drawing up a certificate of public knowledge.
Is your residence in Belgium being terminated? Have you received an order to leave the territory? Has an entry ban been imposed? We advise you and defend your rights, even if you are detained in a closed center.
