Ms. Verstrepen joined the Antwerp Bar in 1988. While still interning with Prof. Jean Laenens, she established her own firm on Rotterdamstraat. From the outset, Ms. Verstrepen specialized in immigration law, a field she has mastered thoroughly over more than 35 years.
Since 1998, Ms. Verstrepen has also been very active within the Bar.
Her roles included delegate to the Association of Flemish Bars, later the Order of Flemish Bars, member of the Council of the Order in Antwerp, chair of the Legal Aid Bureau, and director at the Order of Flemish Bars. From 2014 to 2016, she served as President of the Antwerp Bar Association. Ms. Verstrepen is also involved in various capacities outside the Bar. For instance, she was the founder and chair of the non-profit organization Nansen asbl. Since 2017, Ms. Verstrepen has been chair of the League for Human Rights.
In 2017, together with Benoit Dhondt, Bobber Loos, and Katrin Verhaegen, she founded Antigone Advocaten.
Ms. Verstrepen regularly lectures on various topics within migration law and has several publications on the subject to her name.
